It’s Almost Boating Season!
There is always so much to do before the first boat trip of the season.
Most people seem to think that you just hop on and go but nothing could be further from the truth.
Unless you have "people" doing it all for you, which we don't, you will be very very busy.
It is very much like a cottage that has been closed for the winter.
Everything needs to be cleaned, washed, repaired etc. etc.
For weeks upon weeks Captain Jeff has been scrubbing, sanding, painting and tinkering to get his baby ready to take on another season.
He has been spending more nights on the boat than at home lately and I'm actually starting to feel a bit sorry for him (not really, I know he enjoys a quiet glass of wine on the back deck while watching the sunset).
He made the mistake of telling me how much he actually likes working on his boat, so now I feel I'm totally off the hook.
I'm in charge of the food though and that is a chore in itself.
Just the thought of the trip to Costco we will be taking to buy everything we need for the next few months is enough to give me a panic attack.
Captain Jeff is a bit of a Costco addict to say the least.
I always say HIS boat because even though I will spend most of the summer on it, I wouldn't have a clue how to get it from point A to B. Even after all these years I am totally clueless (which I am not proud of).
All I know how to do is cook the meals, make the beds and reluctantly do the occasional cleaning job.
I am just way more concerned with figuring out the outfits I will be needing to look good and also shoot some great content.
It always takes me weeks to plan the whole wardrobe.
What sold me on this boat all those years ago, besides the walk around bed, was the enormous closet.
Needless to say I always bring more clothes than I need and I always come home with more than I brought.
The one thing I always love to bring, which takes up no space in my bag is colourful scarves and ponchos.
As I’ve said, my body is not bikini ready, but definitely poncho ready!
I ordered a couple of ponchos this week and they are just so cute and versatile.
You can literally fit them in a small handbag.
I just feel you can create so many different looks with them.
They look great over a dress but also with a pair of jeans or white pants.
If you would like to have a look and shop for one just click here or on any of the photos.
They are the absolute perfect travel companion.
I am hoping that while I'm on the water,I will have more time for blogging and will be able to take you along
to all the wonderful places we will be visiting.
Ahoy!
Love,
Renate
