Sucia at Sunset

I was still sound asleep this morning when I heard the engines start at 7.30. I guess someone was eager to go. After a not so great sleep (my foot kept me up) I decided to get up anyway and join the action.

‘First things first for me in the morning is my almond milk cappuccino, it is literally something I cannot do without!! I switched to from regular milk to almond milk a few years ago and never looked back.

Since my husband is a strict vegan it made sense for me to switch. Almond milk is less sweet and less calories than regular milk so win win.

Now we can both drink the same milk in our coffees and it is one less thing to keep in the fridge.

We also have a cappuccino maker onboard and it is the best money we ever spent (I think so anyway).

The crossing across the Georgia Strait was less than smooth to say the least but all of that is forgotten when you enter into one of Sucia’s lovely bays.

Sucia Island is a Washington State Park with mooring buoys and a couple of docks in several Bays. Shallow Bay, Echo Bay and Fossil Bay.

You won’t find a Starbucks here but the hiking trails are beautiful and you might even see some whales.

It really is a boaters paradise.

It is the closest place for us to get to on our boat from our marina so every boat trip starts here.

This time we decided on Fossil Bay because it is protected from the winds. We were super lucky and got a spot on the dock.

Fossil Bay actually get its name from the many fossils that can be found there.

About 10 years ago they even found a dinosaur fossil believed to be 80 million years old.

The first dinosaur fossil to ever be found in Washington.

We have been to Sucia many times over the past 15 years and it really never disappoints.

So peaceful and quiet and the most beautiful sunsets.

Not a whole lot I can do at the moment but hopefully I will be rid of this boot in the next little while and be able to put on a sneaker and do some biking.

I made a nice tofu stirfry tonight which made some room in the fridge and turned in at 9.30 (the days are getting shorter already) to watch some of my downloaded Shows on my iPad.

Yellowstone is my current favourite binge.
