All Black After 50?

Since my late teens I have always liked an all black outfit.

Summer or winter.

Every time I would see an all black suit or a little black dress on someone I would stop and think how chic and sophisticated that looked.

Needless to say, I wore a lot of black over the last 40 or so years and I always felt great in it.

As I got older, I would catch myself in the mirror and sometimes think the black was starting to look a little harsh and it was washing me out a little (or a lot depending on the light lol).

I always owned several black pants and turtlenecks, which were always my favourite things to wear in the fall and winter, until one day I happened to see a picture of myself from the side and noticed (besides the wrinkles) how my chin was kind of drooping over the turtleneck! Yikes!!!

I was literally horrified!

You know what they say, ‘you look 10 years older than you think you do’, and this was definitely true for me.

Especially when I'm not wearing my glasses.

This was about 5 years ago and I have been missing my black turtlenecks ever since.

I am now 62 and my neck  definitely has become a very big problem area for me.

Unfortunately I inherited this neck from my mother (thanks mom lol),  and besides a neck lift (major surgery) there is not a whole lot I can do about it.

I suppose I should have thought of that when I was baking in the sun while living in Malta in my early 20's.

So now I'm circling back to the black turtle neck and I decided to give it another go.

The drooping chin now seems the lesser of two evils and frankly I can definitely live with that.

I'm actually quite excited to wear my black outfits again.

I do go a little lighter on the lipstick and a little heavier on the blush so I don't look like Morticia Addams.

I feel chic and sophisticated again in black, and the chin, well ...... I'm 62 and I've earned it!

Let me know what you think of these outfits.

Love,
Renate
